Training for Women Farmers in Uganda
August 2025: Two workers from Mughende Women Farmers Association (MUWOFA) received TCD Training. CT Trust provided 3,680,000 UGX ($1750 NZ) to pay for their travel and accommodation. Their goal is: “to help us initiate a TCD pilot project in rural communities of Kasese District in Western Uganda. The aim is to begin a long-term, locally owned transformation process addressing food security, water access, women’s livelihoods, and community empowerment.”
December 2025: 115 women farmers (and several men) from 18 villages participate in a 5-day TCD training course. CT Trust covers accommodation, travel, venue hire, training materials, and catering—totalling approximately USD $13,600 (NZD $22,000).
57 goats gifted to participants: 57 goats were gifted to the participants after they completed training (1 goat per participant - some participants haven't received their goats yet). The goats were $80 NZD each, so the cost for the 56 goats was approximately $4560 NZD.
Water Filters in Egypt
We have committed to providing 300 water filters to families in need in Ezbet El Haggana village in Egypt (near Cairo). With the help of generous Kiwi donors (and our partner International Barcodes Ltd), we have been able to fund 200 water filters so far, and they are being installed in homes with the help of our local partner GHNI. The water filters cost about $120.00 NZD each.
This financial year (FYE 31-Mar-2026) we have made two big donations to fund household water filters in Cairo (the funds went to our on-the-ground partner GHNI) so far:
- Jun-2025: $12,700 NZD sent from CT Trust — for 100 water filters.
- Oct 2025: 100 water filters donated — $13,200 NZD (from generous Kiwi donors, as well as $4,000 NZD from International Barcodes Ltd).
The water filters have been a great help in improving the wellbeing of members of the community: For example, Umm Israa struggles with kidney problems and dangerously high levels of salt in her body. Clean filtered water was essential to her recovery. A water filter has now been installed in her home, giving her and her daughter safe water to use and drink.
Micro-loans in Egypt
We are also funding 20 micro-enterprise loans in Egypt via GHNI ($4,400.00 USD donated in August 2025 — approx. $200 USD per loan). Their current repayment level is great (100% repayment rate, and average time for repayment is 10 months).
Village Drill in Kenya
In 2026, CT Trust confirmed funding for a second Village Drill Hybrid for an experienced, Kenyan-led drill team so they can reach more communities with clean water.
The Kenya team has been drilling wells for over 13 years and holds the record for the deepest well ever drilled with a Village Drill (249 feet). CTT is providing $30,000 USD (approx. $48,000 NZD) for a used Village Drill Hybrid, an electric adapter kit, shipping, and spare parts — enabling the team to potentially double their output to around 6 wells per month.
Unlike our Liberia project where we funded a brand-new drill and team from scratch, the Kenya project supports the scaling of an existing, proven operation.
Profit 4 Good Network
In 2026, CT Trust launched the Profit 4 Good Network — a directory of businesses where 100% of net profits are dedicated to charitable purposes (see our Profit 4 Good Network page for more details).
It features highly philanthropic businesses from New Zealand, Australia, the UK, the USA, and Canada which dedicate 100% of their net profit to charitable purposes. There are many ways businesses can make the world a better place, but we wanted to specifically highlight businesses that are owned by charities, social enterprise businesses, and other businesses that have a 100% commitment to making the world a better place in some way. Reasonable (market-rate) salaries and business expenses are exempted, but 100% of net profit after that must be dedicated to charitable purposes — meaning no dividends are paid to shareholders.
