TCD Training Project in Kasese, Uganda
Community Transformation Trust (CT Trust) is funding a Transformational Community Development (TCD) Training Project in partnership with GHNI and the Mughende Women Farmers Association (MUWOFA). The project empowers over 18 rural villages in the Kasese District of Western Uganda by combining practical training with target seed funding to drive sustainable, community-led change.
Stage One: TCD Training (2025–2026)
CT Trust funds the venue hire, accommodation, catering, travel, and training resources for all participants. Delivered through GHNI’s proven framework, the course equips local leaders with practical skills to solve community challenges.
Participants:
Over 185 local leaders, primarily women, supported through partner organizations MUWOFA (115 women farmers across 18 villages) and KIYOSIMA (70 members of the Kasese Young Single Mothers Association).
Completion Support:
Every participant receives one goat upon completing the training to support household income and food security.
Stage Two: Co-Funded Seed Projects (2026–2030)
To help graduates kick-start TCD initiatives upon returning home, CT Trust provides seed funding for key village infrastructure and income-generating projects.
In line with standard TCD principles, these initiatives rely on a matched-funding model where CT Trust and GHNI cover up to 50% of costs, while local villagers contribute the remaining balance through local materials, labor, or community funds.
Seed Funding Allocation (USD):
Goat Loans: $5,000 (100 goats at $50 each, given directly to graduates)
VIP Model Latrines: $12,500 (5 units at $2,500 each to establish community standards)
Soap-Making Initiatives: $10,000 (10 projects at $1,000 each)
Vegetable Gardens: $10,000 (20 plots at $500 each)
Women’s Sewing Centers: $300 (tailoring equipment and setup)
Progress to Date
August 2025:
CT Trust funded travel and accommodation ($1,750 NZD) for two MUWOFA key workers to attend initial TCD training provided by GHNI, preparing them to guide local implementation.
December 2025:
115 MUWOFA women farmers and local leaders completed their first 5-day training ($13,600 USD / ~$22,000 NZD). The first batch of 57 goats ($4,560 NZD) was distributed to graduates.
Next Steps
Upcoming 5-Day TCD Training Courses (Target: December 2026)
Two separate 5-day training sessions were originally planned for mid-2026 but have been tentatively rescheduled for December 2026 due to regional Ebola travel disruptions and high oil prices affecting flight affordability for GHNI trainers:
MUWOFA Group: 115 participants will undertake their second 5-day TCD training module.
KIYOSIMA Group: 70 women from the Kasese Young Single Mothers Association will attend their initial 5-day TCD training module.
Goat Distributions:
Remaining training participants will receive their individual goats following the completion of these December sessions.
