CTT – Making a Difference, Globally and Locally
We raise funds and awareness for effective relief of extreme poverty worldwide, while also supporting innovative initiatives here in New Zealand.
Overseas Projects
CTT supports international initiatives that create lasting change in communities living in extreme poverty. Current projects include:
- Community Development Projects – Transformation Community Development (TCD) projects in Myanmar, Indonesia, Egypt, and Uganda, helping communities transform themselves and break the cycle of extreme poverty.
- Micro-Finance Loans – small loans to women in Egypt to start or grow businesses, from tailoring and hairdressing to small shops and food production.
- Water Projects – providing portable village drills in Liberia and Sierra Leone to bring clean water to remote communities, along with water filters in Egypt for households in need.
New Zealand Projects
We’re also proud to support innovative projects here in Aotearoa, connecting communities, donors, and consumers for positive change:
- The Open Table NZ – a welcoming space for open, inclusive Christians. First Annual Gathering in June 2026, Auckland.
- SIDN – connecting generous Kiwis for high-impact donations. First round-table event in Spring 2026, Auckland.
- Ethical Transparency Alliance – empowering consumers and organisations to achieve transparency in products and supply chains.

Community Development:
Transformation Community Development (TCD) projects, developed by GHNI, are 3–5 year long village development initiatives designed to help communities transform themselves and break the cycle of extreme poverty. We love the TCD approach to community development because it is very community-driven — the community not only has to want change, but they have to be ready to co-invest their own resources (time, savings, labour) and assume responsibility for the development of their own community.
We are currently supporting TCD projects in Myanmar and Indonesia, and Egypt. We are also providing seed funding to GHNI to hire a worker to conduct TCD assessments in potential communities, to make it easier and quicker to establish new TCD projects in areas of need.
Clean Water Projects:
In 2025 we funded a portable Village Drill to drill wells in Sierra Leone and Liberia. We love the design of this drill — it is extremely portable (it can be carried on the back of a truck), and it can be operated either with electricity or with manual labour. This makes it ideal to use for drilling multiple wells in remote communities.
We provide funding for water filters in Egypt - there is an urgent need for more water filters to be installed in households in areas of Cairo (and other parts of Egypt) that are densely populated with poor sanitation. Many households don't have access to clean water, and this causes high rates of sickness and disease. From 2025 we have begun partnering with GHNI to supply water filters to households in need in Egypt.
Micro-Finance Loans:
Through our partnership with GHNI, we are supporting micro-enterprise projects in Egypt. Small loans are provided to women in Cairo and other regions, enabling them to start new businesses or strengthen existing ones. These initiatives have helped women engage in a wide variety of enterprises, including ice-cream and candyfloss production, hairdressing, tailoring and clothing repair, shoe repair, running small shops, and producing cleaning products.
Emergency Relief:
We also provide support to organizations such as World Vision, Tear Fund, and ReliefAid to assist them in their urgent disaster response — e.g. for Gaza (2024) and for the East Africa Hunger Crisis (2022).
