Completed Village Transformations Empowered by TCD

The Path to Self-Reliance and Graduation

Transformational Community Development (TCD) is specifically designed not as open-ended foreign charity, but as an intensive 3-to-5 year empowerment process. Developed by our partner Global Hope Network International (GHNI), TCD equips local leaders to take ownership of five critical areas: clean water, food security, wellness & sanitation, education, and sustainable income.

Once a village establishes self-sustaining committees, locally managed infrastructure, and viable household micro-enterprises, the community officially graduates from TCD support. Below are two completed projects that Community Transformation Trust has proudly funded to full self-reliance:

Myanmar TCD Project in Yone Taw 2

CT Trust funded the final 3 years of the Yone Taw 2 TCD Project, run in partnership with GHNI (total project budget estimated at ~$64,000 USD). Yone Taw 2 is a rural agricultural community of 60 households that struggled with contaminated water, chronic malnutrition, and scarce income opportunities.

Village Road Renovation

The community drafted plans, acquired materials, and paved over 150 meters of all-weather road. The majority of the budget was raised locally by villagers alongside the local government, creating safe travel during monsoon seasons so children could reach school and farmers could transport crops to market.

70-Year Wait for Electricity

After waiting 70 years for power, the village TCD Committee negotiated a cost-sharing partnership with local government authorities. Grid electricity was connected to homes and communal areas, powering street lighting, household appliances, and children's evening study.

Clean Water & Nutrition

Families installed affordable household filtration systems and biosand units, coupled with village-wide hygiene training. Nutrition workshops and cooperative vegetable gardening boosted family health and reduced preventable childhood illness.

Micro-Enterprise Incomes

Local women and farmers formed savings groups and micro-enterprise cooperatives, enabling families to diversify household incomes and achieve lasting financial security.

Mawa TCD Project in Indonesia
2019 - 2024 Mawa, South Sulawesi, Indonesia Completed & Graduated

Mawa, Indonesia TCD Project

CT Trust supported the Transformational Community Development programme in Mawa village, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, alongside GHNI. Operating from 2020 through 2024 with an annual investment of ~$15,000 USD, the project completely transformed water access, children's education, and household economics.

Piped Spring Water System

Previously, Mawa families spent up to 50% of their monthly income on trucked water during dry seasons, with the nearest unclean source 800m away. The village piped clean spring water to a central village reservoir and directly into household taps, maintained by small resident water fees.

Disease Reduction & Hygiene

With clean running water and twice-weekly hygiene training led by local TCD Champion Ani, chronic diarrhea and skin infections dropped dramatically across the village, drastically improving maternal and infant health.

Livestock Cooperatives & Income

Villagers established local pig and livestock cooperatives. Instead of raising animals for outside owners for minimal pay, households now own and breed their own stock, keeping fathers from having to migrate for months at a time.

100% School Attendance

Eliminating crushing water expenses and increasing family incomes allowed parents to afford uniforms, books, and fees, ensuring children who previously worked or stayed home could complete their schooling.
